About

Whole-home audio, built from what you already own.

Home Audio Sync is a web app that plays the same song, in sync, on the phones, tablets, laptops, and TVs already in your home — and through the speakers already connected to them.

01 — Why I built it

Good sound shouldn't cost an arm and a leg.

I always wanted whole-home audio: the same music in the kitchen, the living room, and out on the patio, all playing together and all sounding good. Every way to get it came with the same catch. Buy new speakers for every room. Add a receiver. Run wires. Spend a small fortune on hardware to solve what is really a timing problem.

But my house already had speakers I liked, and plenty of devices that could drive them — a laptop, a smart TV, a tablet, a couple of old phones in a drawer. None of it needed replacing. It just needed a way to play together.

So I built one. I'm a solo developer, and Home Audio Sync is my answer to a problem that usually takes a lot of money to fix: software that syncs the technology you already have, so the only thing you need to add is the music.

02 — How it works

Three steps. No app to install.

01

Open it in a browser

Sign in at homeaudiosync.com and start a room. Everything runs in the browser — on iPhone, Android, laptops, and many smart TVs.

02

Add your devices

Open the site on each device, or scan the room's QR code. Connect a device to a speaker you already own and that speaker joins the system too.

03

Press play

The same song starts in every room and stays in step. Phones, tablets, and laptops sync tightest; TVs and Bluetooth speakers add a little delay of their own.

03 — What to play

Your music sounds best. You can start without it.

Home Audio Sync was built for your own music — the collection you've gathered over the years, uploaded once and played in every room the way you like it. That's still the best way to hear it.

But a lot of people don't keep their music as files anymore; it lives inside streaming apps. So there are other ways to fill the house with sound:

Internet radio

Search thousands of public stations, keep the ones you like, and hear the same broadcast in every room.

YouTube

Add songs from YouTube to the queue and play them together, right alongside anything you've uploaded.

Global Playlists

Curated playlists you can press play on right away, with nothing to upload first.

04 — Where it's going

Great sound for everyone, with what they already have.

That's the goal. I keep finding new ways to use Home Audio Sync — parties, silent discos, assistive listening, even Christmas light shows. If you've found a way to use it, or wish it did something it doesn't, I'd like to hear about it.
